Crest F1 is an early "Charleston Grey” hybrid that matures in 80 days under Colorado growing conditions. It produces a heavy crown set of uniform blocky oval fruit (14 x 10 in / 35.5 x 25.5 cm) which average 23 lb (10.4 kg). The strong rind is a light mottled green.
The internal appearance is very attractive with bright medium-red flesh, small dark brown seed and a well defined flesh-rind boundary. The eating quality is excellent; the flesh is sweet and delicious.
Crest has a vigorous vine and is resistant to strains of Fusarium and Anthracnose. Crest is earlier than other hybrids in its class, has a higher more uniform yield and a longer shelf life.
